An experienced corporate banker for over 35 years, Kishor Kalra has served several Indian and foreign banks, mainly on the front office and credit risk management side. He holds a Master’s degree in Commerce in addition to being a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Relations & Personnel Management. He brings significant front office experience on corporate banking, credit appraisals, credit risk management, project finance / working capital finance and regulatory compliances etc.
His full-time engagement with banking industry were as follows:
– Senior Director and Regional Head of North & East India at Société Générale Bank, based in New Delhi.
Head of Corporate Banking and Head of Loans Department at Sanwa Bank (now merged with Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi)
– Officer at Bank of India covering general banking, loans, trade finance etc.
He contributed to the significant business growth of both the multinational banks in terms of value and quality of credit portfolio bringing manifold increase in profitability. He was instrumental in successfully establishing the start-up branches of the two leading International Banks in Delhi. He developed fruitful relationships with senior Executives of Indian and Multinational Corporates.
He was a member of decision-making committees at national/country level of these multinational banks.
He is a motivating team leader and result oriented Corporate and Investment banker with broad and diversified experience in managing and developing collaborative relationships to create/initiate high value-added deals.
He has strong capability of mobilizing human resources towards given directives and objectives by inculcating strong sense of commitment, cooperation and co-ordination.
He has attended various events / seminars and network gatherings organized by European Business group, Indo French Chamber of Commerce and various Indian Chambers and also trainings in India and overseas locations.
His responsibilities at banks served included mainly the following:
– Deals origination and marketing,
– Managing portfolio of Assets & Liabilities,
– Credit and Financial Analysis and Risk Management,
– Advising clients on corporate strategy and business plans,
– Reorganization and restructuring,
– Participating at consortium as a leader and as a participant.
– Compliance / Legal and Documentation.
– Pre-Sanction and Post Sanction Inspection & Monitoring.
– Recoveries, Restructuring & Legal Issues.
– Overall General Banking & General Administration including regulatory compliance.
At the time of retirement, he was managing a business portfolio of about INR 7000 Crores approx. including onshore & off shore loans, deposits and off-balance sheet items with responsibilities to improve overall profitability.
He was also the sector head at country level to grow and manage the banking business of Agro, Fertilizer and other agro processing and allied industries.
He covered and dealt with several banking products and services including:
– Term Loans (Local and Foreign Currency),
– Working Capital Facilities,
– Trade Finance products,
– Treasury and Currency Derivative products, Foreign Currency Loans, NCDs, Bonds,
– Advisory, Syndication, Mergers & Acquisitions,
– Off shore loans,
– Project Finance,
– ECA Backed Funding
– Deposits etc.
